The large iron meteorite
The eye-catcher of this exhibition is the original of a 283.5 kg heavy meteorite from the Arizona meteorite crater. The large iron meteorite invites one to, literally, grasp and understand it all.
On the basis of models, wall charts and texts current insights on the sun, the planets and the minor planets, meteorites and comets are imparted.
A prized detail is the telescope with which in 1845 the amateur astronomer Karl Ludwig Hencke discovered the minor planet »Astraea«.
