The Sugar Museum in Berlin-Wedding told the story of sugar – where it comes from, how it is made. Quite simply: nearly everything about sugar.

On our website you may continue to inform yourself about the history of the house and of sugar – a commonplace substance with an extraordinary history.

Important Information: The Sugar Museum is relocating!

The Sugar Collection is closed at its old location since 5 November 2012.

It will be relocating to the German Museum of Technology in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The updated exhibition is expected to reopen at the end of 2014.

History: History of the Sugar Museum

In 1867, the first sugar institute in the world was founded in Berlin under Carl Scheibler. The Sugar Museum was opened on the 8th of May 1904. The initiator of the museum was Edmund Oskar von Lippmann, the doyen of the history of sciences and sugar.
