What is light?
Light is an extremely diverse phenomenon. “Rays of light” show how mirrors and lenses work and how optical instruments such as telescopes and microscopes function. Light itself is invisible to us but it makes objects visible. Light illuminates material and can even make it luminesce – but not every kind of light will do. Light shares properties with the ocean waves. And light is much much more too …
Eye tests
Many of the experiments in this section give you the opportunity to test your own vision, and they might give you an indication of whether you have an eye problem and if so which. But of course that is no substitute for a visit to a qualified optician or ophthalmologist.
